We Drive Solar B.V., located at Europalaan 202, 7559 SC, Hengelo, Netherlands, is responsible for the processing of personal data as described in this privacy statement. If you have any questions, please contact us using the contact details provided at the end of this privacy statement.

This privacy statement applies to our processing of your personal data when you interact with us or otherwise use our products and services, including by visiting our website at https://wedrivesolar.com/ or https://www.wedrivesolar.nl/, signing up for our services through the portal on our website, purchasing a charging station, requesting that we install a charging station, and using our charging services (including via the mobile application offered by your energy supplier).

Personal Data

We Drive Solar processes certain personal data because you use our services and/or because you provide this information to us yourself. Below is an overview of the personal data processed by We Drive Solar:

  • Contact details, such as your name, address, phone number, and email address;

  • Energy supply details, when you sign up for our services through the portal on our website, we may request you to share information related to your energy supply situation in order to install a charging station and provide our charging services, such as your meter box brand, meter box capacity / phases, meter box EAN-code, availability of internet connection in your meter box, distance between your meter box and the location where you want us to install a charging station, and details related to your EV-charging contract with us and your dynamic energy contract with your energy supplier;

  • Vehicle and charging details, when you sign up for our services through the portal on our website, we may request you to provide your vehicle identification number (VIN number), which we will use to activate the vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology in your vehicle to enable that energy is sent back from your vehicle to the energy grid. When you use our charging services (including via the mobile application offered by your energy supplier), we may receive details related to your use of our services and such mobile application, including your type of vehicle, planned departure times, desired vehicle battery level, and scheduled vehicle charging sessions;

  • Photos you share with us, when you sign up for our services through the portal on our website, we may request you to upload photos of the location where you intend to use our charging services (including your meter box, energy meter, the cable route from your meter box, and the location where you want us to install a charging station, which we will use to prepare the installation of your charging station);

  • Payment details, such as your payment method, bank details, bank account number and payment amounts;

  • Communication details, such as the contents of your messages when you communicate with us via the contact form on our website or by email;

  • Technical data, such as the IP address of your device and the type of operating system and browser you use when browsing our website; and

  • Other data, this includes data we may collect from you in other situations, such as data we may collect in relation to dispute resolution, data we may collect about who enters our buildings (such as a list of visitors or CCTV) or data about who participates in our events or campaigns.

Purposes of Processing Personal Data

We Drive Solar processes your personal data for the following purposes and on the basis of the following legal grounds:

  • To provide our services, including when you decide to create an account through the portal on our website, when we provide our products and services to you, including selling a charging station, installing a charging station and offering charging services, or when we process your payment transactions. We generally use your contact details, energy supply details, vehicle and charging details, photos, payment details and technical data when providing our services to you. Our legal basis for this processing of your personal data is performing our contract with you or pursuing a legitimate interest that we have when offering our services;

  • To communicate with you about our services, for example when you request assistance from our customer support. We generally use your contact details and communication details to communicate with you, and we may use other data to the extent required to effectively communicate with you. Our legal basis for this processing of your personal data is pursuing a legitimate interest that we have when offering our services;

  • To send our newsletters, if you have subscribed to our newsletters. We generally use your email address to send our newsletters. Our legal basis for this processing of your personal data is your consent or pursuing a legitimate interest that we have when offering our services;

  • To improve our services, for example by analyzing your personal data that we collect when offering our services. We may in particular use your energy supply details and vehicle and charging details to improve our services. Our legal basis for this processing of your personal data is pursuing a legitimate interest that we have when offering our services;

  • For dispute resolution or judicial orders, for example to resolve complaints or legal procedures or to comply with a judicial order. The personal data we need to process for these purposes will depend on the particular dispute or order at hand. Our legal basis for this processing of your personal data is complying with a legal obligation which we are subject to or pursuing a legitimate interest that we have, for example to resolve a complaint;

  • To comply with legal obligations, such as data needed to comply with statutory retention obligations (for example in tax laws). The personal data we need to process for these purposes will depend on the particular legal obligation at hand. Our legal basis for this processing of your personal data is complying with a legal obligation which we are subject to; and

  • For other or related purposes, such as protecting and securing our website or buildings, archiving, testing, improving our IT infrastructure, quality assurance, protecting our rights, and similar processes and administration.

Automated Decision-Making

We Drive Solar does not make decisions based solely on automated processing (such as decisions made by computer programs or systems without any human involvement) that may have legal effects or similar significant consequences for individuals.

Retention Periods for Personal Data

We Drive Solar retains your personal data for a limited amount of time and no longer than necessary to fulfill the purposes for which your data was collected. We retain your personal data in accordance with legal retention periods and our legitimate interests in keeping documentation and evidence or storage as a technical required. We generally retain your contact details, energy supply details, vehicle and charging details and photos during your use of our products and services at a minimum. When the storage period has ended we will delete or anonymize your data as part of our usual processes.

If you subscribed to our newsletter (email address), your email address will be retained until you unsubscribe from this service (e.g., via an unsubscribe link in the newsletter).

Sharing Personal Data with Third Parties

We Drive Solar may share your personal data with third parties, including the following categories of recipients:

  • Service providers. We work with service providers who may process your personal data on our behalf, such as IT cloud, bookkeeping and hosting suppliers. Such services providers may only use your personal data in accordance with our instructions.

Our key business partners include energy suppliers (such as Hegg Energy), vehicle charging platforms (such as Last Mile Solutions) and payment service providers.

  • Other third parties. In certain cases, we may need to disclose your personal data to other third parties, such as public authorities or courts which are legally entitled to require disclosure of your personal data, or our external partners such as law firms, banks or insurance companies.

If a recipient of your personal data is located outside of the European Economic Area, we will require the recipient to comply with data protection clauses approved by the European Commission for the purpose of protecting international transfers of personal data, unless the adequate protection of your personal data is otherwise ensured, for example because the recipient is located in a country for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision.

This means you can request that We Drive Solar sends you the personal data it holds in a computer file. We Drive Solar will respond as quickly as possible, but in any case, within four weeks. Please note that conditions, exceptions and restrictions apply to each of these rights.
